On April 24, 2004 I (an East Indian man, i.e. from India) went to a Mattress Warehouse store on 6381 Seven Corners Center, Falls Church. Earlier that day, I had stopped in at their store in Bethesda which is quite far from where I live. I tried various mattresses and was finally choosing between one that was singly priced at $900 and another that (on special sale) was at $1049 for two.
I asked several questions about the mattresses, including about the 2-for-1 sale. I checked the prices against the Bethesda store and clarified which ones were priced at what level. The salesman asked me whether I intended to become a world expert on mattresses in one day. I looked askance and I said, "It's my money and I hope I'm entitled to ask a few questions'. He said if I wasn't happy, I could leave.
I said that as a customer, I didn't appreciate what he said, and could I speak with the store owner or manager? He pointed to a bearded man sitting in front of him who I asked whether he thought his associate had treated me fairly. He said: "If he said something wrong, I apologize" Mattress Warehouse. I said I appreciate the apology but do you think he treated me fairly. The second man interrupted and said: "I will defend my salesman. Do you want to buy a mattress or not? If not, I suggest you leave the store." I could not believe it and so very calmly asked for the number of corporate headquarters and the names of the two gentlemen. He refused to give it to me and invited me to leave the store again.
He then turned around and went to the back of the store through a door behind him. The first man, the Mr. Warren, stood up, looked at me and said: "All people with accents like you are chiselers and waste our time". I couldn't believe it and so asked him to repeat what he said and he said it again, this time asking me to **** myself. The second man returned and I told him what had ocurred and repeated my request for the corporate number. This time he gave me a number and a contact as well as the name of the first man. As he wrote out the details, the first man kept sticking his finger at me and cursing me with profanities. I reminded the second man that I had remained absolutely calm and that he should note that the first man was still cursing. Then I left the store.

On March 25,2004 My daughter and I went to mattress Warehouse in York, PA, to look at mattresses. A salesman Chad asked if he could help us I told him I needed a mattress set and was looking right now. My daughter called my attention to one she was sitting on, she said "mom try this" I went over and did try it Mattress Warehouse - it felt good. I then lay down on it, got up, looked at the price - it was $899. I asked Chad if that was the best he could do on the price. He went to his desk and said "well I can take a hundred dollars off since it was a discontinued set."
I then asked if that was the best he could do ? He said, "Let's make it 749.99 and that's the very best I can do." I said that sounded great and I asked if it came with a bed frame? He said, "No that would be extra." I told him ok I'll have to see if our king-size frame was adjustable to fit this queen.
He showed me the bed right next to it - it too was a queen. Both mattresses had the same cover on them - it was very soft. almost like a flannel material. He said both were the same price of $899, one was a queen (reg) and 1 was a queen (Olympic). I chose the Olympic. I then looked at headboards and he took cars of another customer. He then came back to me, asked me if I wanted the mattress I was now lying on. I said yes - it was the Queen Olympic. He told me delivery would be Saturday. I said great, wrote a check for $794.99. He sold me the set off the floor, even told the other couple who saw it that it was sold.
Now on March the 27th, the one delivery man comes in with the box springs and sets it up. Off comes the plastic, the other man comes in and says sign here. I said I don't have my glasses, he says well it just says we were here.
Now this man goes out and brings up the mattress in plastic. I say don't remove the plastic, he shakes his head. I walk into the kitchen to take my meds. I come out of the kitchen to see more plastic. When they went downstairs I finally got the chance to see it - it was the wrong bed completely. I told the driver it's the wrong bed, have the store call me. He shook his head and went out the door.
I thought he was coming back in for they left the plastic in the living room Mattress Warehouse. They were gone just like that. Sunday I called the store and left a message, then thought I better just go up there which my husband and I did. We got a complete runaround with the salesman Chris, mattress, memory foam mattress, bed mattress futon, tempur pedic mattress, air mattress, mattress store, mattress discounters, sealy mattress, bed mattress, foam mattress, serta mattress, futon mattress, mattress pad, latex mattress, mattress firm, mattress giant, simmons mattress, discount mattress, twin mattress, mattress warehouse, mattress cover, water bed mattress, mattress size, cheap mattress, once upon a mattress, memory foam mattress topper, mattress review, mattress king, box spring mattress, denver mattress, best mattress, crib mattress, queen mattress, original mattress factory, latex foam mattress, king size mattress, air mattress bed.
He says, "See on your invoice, it says size 5/0 well that's just a queen bed and that's what you bought." He then called up his boss John, told him my story and I asked to speek to him. He told me, "Pay the diffrence and you can have it."
